Composed by Masaoka Shiki in 1896, at age 29. Born
in Matsuyama, Shiki is credited with making haiku a
respected literary form.
*Jōruriji Temple is the 46th of the Shikoku 88 pilgrimage temples. According to local legend, Emon Saburo was the first pilgrim.
